The Power of Meeting Prep

The quickest way to kill a deal before the meeting even starts.
I take a lot of meetings. And within the first 3 minutes, I can tell who is going to be a long-term partner and who is wasting their time.
It comes down to one thing: The Pre-Work.
I am shocked by how many people request a meeting, yet show up having done zero research. They ask basic questions like, "So, do you do 1-on-1 coaching?" (I don't. I haven't for years. It is on my website, my LinkedIn, and in dozens of video interviews & media features).\
When you show up unprepared, you aren't just being "casual." You are signaling two things:
You didn't care enough to do a 5-minute Google search.
You don't value your own time enough to make this meeting effective.
In my world, Preparation is a Love Language.
Before I meet with a potential partner, my team and I pull a dossier. We use Sales Navigator. We read their recent posts. We find genuine points of connection.
Why? Because Sales is not about pitching. Sales is about relating.
And you cannot relate to someone you haven't bothered to learn about.
If you want to be taken seriously in a room, do the work before you walk through the door.
Don't ask someone questions that Google could have answered. Ask them questions that only they can answer.
