Leadership is an art, and I think the best leaders are those who are students of the arts.
It’s an honor to serve on the Steering Committee for the Alvin Ailey Young Patron Circle for so many years. For me, the magic of Ailey has always been about more than dance, but also about legacy and the power of an institutional mission. Each year I look forward to Young Patrons Night, where we celebrate together the growth of our group and engage and recruit new prospective members. It’s always incredible to see how many young people are passionate about Ailey and eager to support.
Moments like these can be the fuel for strategic vision. Even when you lead at the highest level, you have to stay connected to the things that remind us what is possible. Commitment to an organization like this is a pillar of a well-lived life. Thank you to Marquez Zak for co-chairing this work with me. Thank you to our incredible steering committee, and Tegan Rich for your leadership.
