"The ultimate luxury is actually to be yourself."
On Thursday night, New York was frigid. But inside Zero Bond, the room was warm and packed for our C-Suite Coach Leadership Series.
We were honored to host Stephanie Oueda Cruz, the Global VP of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging at Tiffany & Co.
Stephanie delivered a masterclass on what it means to lead a legacy brand in a modern world. She argued that in the age of AI, the true differentiator of Luxury is Human Connection. You can automate a transaction, but you cannot automate a feeling.
She dropped gem after gem on how she navigates her global career:
The "No Pile" Strategy: Stephanie challenges HR to show her the candidates they rejected. She isn't looking for a perfect checklist; she recruits for Attitude and Potential. She believes skills can be learned, but character must be hired.
Sponsors > Mentors: She was clear: "Don't get mentors anymore... get sponsors." Mentors give advice; Sponsors put their credibility on the line to get you into the room. She also shared she acts as a sponsor for people who have not asked, specifically when she sees potential in someone who might otherwise be "passed over" without her intervention.
The Audacity Rule: How did she advance so quickly? She didn't wait. She told a story about bypassing gatekeepers and emailing a leader directly to ask for the role she wanted. Her advice: "Don't wait for things to happen. Make it happen."
Done is Better than Perfect: She admitted that earlier in her career, perfectionism slowed her down. Now, she operates with velocity: "Change it faster, better than perfect."
At C-Suite Coach, this resonates deeply. We are a boutique firm, but we operate with a Luxury Mindset, prioritizing high-touch, human connection because trust is the ultimate currency.
Thank you, Stephanie, for the reminder that whether you are selling diamonds or developing leaders, the most valuable asset is the ability to be authentic.
