Why Strategic CEOs Say No

The difference between a Socialite and a Strategic CEO.
Because I’m so passionate about leadership development and the impact of investing in leaders, I see that as the only thing people should know about my brand. But, I’m also a multifaceted person and even if I reject it, an undeniable core part of my brand is what Pauline Brown coined Aesthetic Intelligence. I am a curator of experiences. Whether it is a business dinner or a company workshop, I believe in themes, beauty, and in going the extra mile.
Because I present this high-touch brand, people often assume my calendar is equally open and free-flowing. They see the Experience and want to hang out in it.
But here is the reality check: The Experience is the Output. The Strategy is the Input.
That beautiful event with the dancers and the curated menu? That is upheld by a rigorous, disciplined business model. It is funded by P&L management, difficult decisions, and focused sales activity.
I have to be incredibly protective of my one-on-one time so that I can afford to be generous with my community experiences.
My "No" to a midday coffee chat isn't a rejection.
It is the discipline required to keep the business running so we can host the next "Yes."
I am an introvert leading a team. My energy is a finite resource. I invest it in my team, my clients, and the strategic partners who keep the lights on.
To build a brand that feels like magic, you have to run a business that is grounded in logic.
